Trying Canva

After reading Katie’s blog post. I decided to give Canva a try. I like to try new things and push myself to learn new ways I can teach more effectively.
I think Canva will be a great teaching tool to use in my classrooms. Katie does a great job explaining what Canva is so please feel free to click on
her post to learn more about it.
Basically, Canva is a graphic design tool that anyone can use to make amazing designs for any kind of project you have in mind.
It’s easy to use and what intrigued me the most was that you can make your presentations look amazing and professional without paying money.
However, there are fonts or images and other things that Canva might charge you for but they aren’t too expensive.

My Experience with Canva

I started by linking my Google account with Canva. It was super easy and straightforward to do. As a side note, Katie’s video helped me a lot and
also I found this other video that I liked as well. It is from Five Minute Social Media through Youtube. Here is the video:
Next, I had to decide what to make through Canva. I attached an image of what I saw after I created an account with them and selected what
profession I have:
I decided to create a poster for our school’s mentor social event. I was going to make a presentation for my students but since I am still new
at this I decided to try with a poster first.
I went through all the designs and I decided to pick one that had images that I was looking for.
Below, you will see the final poster I have created through Canva:

Do I Recommend This?

Absolutely! It was so easy to make a professional looking poster! I had so much fun creating it as well. I will keep “playing” with Canva and see
what other things I can make. I know that I will be making a presentation next so I will let you all know how that goes. One thing that I did notice
is that if you would like to print your poster through Canva and you used a premium design, then they will make you pay for it. However, as long
as you don’t use any of their premium features, then you will be fine. Thank you for reading my blog! I will see you all next time.

  1. I am glad you made use of the information Katie posted and tried a new edtech tool. I like the poster that you created for your event I also liked that you embedded the image. Learning from others and getting inspired to create your own is what it is all about when you are learning how to learn technology.

Exploring Seesaw

This week, I've decided to give Seesaw a try. I heard about it so many times that I wanted to see why teachers love it so much. Also, I've learned a lot from Ms. Dana Dembecks's presentation that it was a no-brainer to try one of the many tech tools she mentioned. One of them was Seesaw. Seesaw it's a great tool for students to keep a journal of everything that they do in class daily. Teachers can also use it to assess students' knowledge and skills by uploading or adding activities in Seesaw. Moreover, parents can even log in to Seesaw and see what their children are doing on a daily basis.  Getting started with Seesaw wasn't hard at all. I think, overall, that the creators of Seesaw took a lot of things into consideration. They make it super easy for teachers to create an account and to help you immediately start by adding a class. Also, they give you tips and tricks on how to get started by sending you an email right after you created...

Google Slides Part 2

I believe that teachers should always try to improve their skills as much as they can by evaluating  themselves in a regular basis. I struggled a little last time to make my Google Slides a little more  interesting, and that helped me to become better at Google Slides! I know you have to move backwards  a little to move forwards sometimes. I was frustrated but I was able to learn a valuable lesson. This time around, I was able to analyze what I did and change it a little so that it flows better.  In addition to making some changes, I added some more slides that will allow my students practice  their prepositions. I think they will have fun doing the activities and it’s an easy way for me to check  if they understand how the prepositions “in”, “on”, and “at” work. I will have to try it with my students,  and I will report back to you! :)  Here is my Google Slide! Enjoy and please let me know what you ...

Formative Assessments

Teachers should always remember to create some time to reflect on their own teaching and focus on the need of their students. Therefore, I believe that formative assessments are a way of helping our  students accomplish their academic goals. Formative Assessments help students have an idea of  where they are academically and what they need to get to mastery. The formative assessment tool I chose for my pre and post-assessment is called Quizizz . I picked  this one because students tend to like it more than Kahoot or Socrative. The pros of using Quizizz is  that it is student paced and I can display on my smartboard where my students are as far as getting  the items right or wrong. It gives me and the students a quick snapshot of how much they know about  the topic. For this week’s assignment, I want to assess how much my students know about infinitives  (grammar). They should know it, but it is always good to double check...
